About Original Scottish Landscapes

Born in 1963 and brought up in Renfrewshire, I initially trained in pattern and design technology and was employed by Glasgow Museum's Department to design patterns, and subsequently create, reproduction historical garments. I returned to full-time education in 1988, obtaining B.A.(Hons) prior to undertaking further post-graduate study. I now work as a full-time artist from my studio at home in Rhu, Argyll & Bute, on Scotland's west coast.

I have travelled widely throughout Scotland and my interests include hill-walking, cycling, and the geography, landscape, history and culture of the country - in particular, that of the West Highlands & Islands - interests that are reflected in my paintings.

I like to employ strong, clean colour to emphasise and highlight the landscape. My style often conveys considerable detail, particularly in relation to mountain and architectural scenes. I believe that this representational style has its roots in my training and experience in the drafting of often very intricate pattern-work. My paintings are currently in watercolour and acrylic.

I have exhibited at many events and venues throughout the country. I have enjoyed considerable success with my work, much of which is now in private collections at home and abroad, including the USA, France, Canada, Australia, Spain, New Zealand, Germany, South Africa and Holland.
